UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State will travel to Rutgers for its opening conference game in 2014 under the expanded Big Ten.
The conference announced the conference schedules on Thursday.
Penn State plays at Rutgers on Sept. 13, and the first home conference game is Sept. 27 against Northwestern.
Penn State closes out the season Nov. 29 at home against Michigan State.
Rutgers, from the Big East, and Maryland, from the Atlantic Coast Conference, will join the Big Ten in 2014.
Off Penn State’s schedule that year are Nebraska and Wisconsin.
One non-conference game has yet to be scheduled.

• Aug. 30 - Temple
• Sept. 6 - Akron
• Sept. 13 - at Rutgers
• Sept. 20 - Massachusetts
• Sept. 27 - Northwestern
• Oct. 11 - at Michigan
• Oct. 25 - Ohio State
• Nov. 1 - Maryland
• Nov. 8 - at Indiana
• Nov. 22 - at Illinois
• Nov. 29 - Michigan State
