County League Baseball: Spring Mills blanks Milroy

Tim Conklin blasted a two-run home run and Tyler James controlled the mound as Spring Mills blanked Milroy 5-0 in Centre County Baseball League action on Tuesday.

Conklin homered to dead center in the second and gave Spring Mills (2-1) a 2-0 lead. Mike Vogt, Bradey Walters and Elliot Riley all had RBI-singles in a three-run fifth inning.

Milroy (0-2) couldn’t get its offense going. The team managed just three hits in the game. Kyle Morrow had two singles and Hunter Walker added another.

Spring Mills faces Blanchard on Wednesday, while Milroy travels to Clarence on Thursday.

Mounties rout Hawks

Ryan MacNamara belted a two-run home run in the top of the first to set the pace for Clarence’s 13-10 victory over Howard on Tuesday.

The Mounties’ Mike Lutz went 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles, while Justin Taylor added three hits, including a solo homer in bottom of the sixth inning. Derrick Jabco, John Schall and Brad Young also had two hits for the Mounties (2-1). John Romine captured the win on the mound.

The Hawks’ Scott Zuback had a huge night, going 5-for-5. Zuback blasted a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning and followed up with another in the top of the seventh. He was a triple short of the cycle as he added two singles and a double.

Clarence hosts Milroy and Howard (1-1) hosts Pleasant Gap on Thursday.

Predators pummel Peppers

Nolan Schaaf picked the win on the hill as Lewistown routed Pleasant Gap 15-5 on Tuesday night.

Chad Bautista led the hitting spree for the Predators (2-1), who took a 7-3 lead by the end of the second inning, with a single and a double while Ryan Keefer managed three singles. Both Mike Higgins and Shawn Heckert chipped in two singles.

Steven Alterio homered in the second inning and Colin Berk blasted a solo shot in the sixth for the Peppers.

Lemont tops Blanchard

A three-run sixth inning helped Lemont secure an 8-5 win over Blanchard on Tuesday.

The outburst extended the Ducks’ lead to 8-4. Zach Moerschbacher earned the win.

Austin Mock belted a triple and a single for the Ducks while Trey Nicosio added three singles. Jhonny Matinez and Erik Kempton had two singles each.

Cody Dolan blasted a triple for the Bees (0-2).

Lemont (3-1) will play at Philipsburg Wednesday at 6 p.m.
