High school lacrosse: State College girls' romp in playoffs

— The highly potent State College girls’ lacrosse team’s offense keeps firing on all cylinders.

The Lady Little Lions continued their high-scoring trend with a 22-3 win in a subregional playoff game against Fairview on Thursday. The win put the Lady Little Lions into the next round where they’ll play No. 2 seed Shadyside Academy out of District 7 on May 29.

Katie Mahon led State College with five goals and two assists while Carrie Mahon and Caitlin McGlaughlin added four goals and two assists apiece. Anna Stevenson chipped in three goals while Sam Washell, Annie Hughes, Renee Olivett and Julia Harvey added goals for State College.

Brooke Shaffer, Darien Miller and Kylie Shuck added helpers. Kristin Sonsteby and Hallie DuFour combined to turn aside six of Fairview’s nine shots
