Police update on fatal Clinton County shooting: Teen was handling air rifle when it went off

— Police now say a 15-year-old boy who died Tuesday after he was shot with an air rifle was handling the rifle when it went off, shooting him in the chest.

State police at Lamar said the incident is still under investigation, but the shooting is not considered suspicious.

The air-rifle shooting occurred at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Porter Township, Clinton County.

According to state police at Lamar, the boy was pronounced dead at Lock Haven Hospital by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy is pending. Police have not identified the victim.
