Woman charged with trying to bring marijuana into state prison

A Pittsburgh woman is scheduled to appear in Centre County Court Wednesday on charges that she tried to bring suspected marijuana into the State Correctional Institution at Benner while visiting an inmate.

State police at Rockview said Shantele Weaver, 20, was found with suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a search performed by a police dog.

Weaver attempted to leave prison grounds when told police had been called. She was arrested before leaving the property.

Weaver is due in Centre County Court Wednesday morning for a preliminary hearing on the charges.
