Centre County Baseball League: Philipsburg sweeps Lewistown

— Philipsburg remained perfect, sweeping a doubleheader against Lewistown on Sunday.

The Pirates outscored the Predators 27-9 in two games, taking the opener 10-2 and the nightcap 17-7.

Matt Curtis came up big for Philipsburg. He drilled a home run in Game 1 then added a double and triple in the second game. Nick Daye’s grand slam in the second inning gave Philipsburg a 6-3 lead in Game 2 and the Pirates would add 11 more runs before the game was cut short.

Chad Speigle added a triple and home run in Game 2 while Ryan Mostyn also homered in the second game for Philipsburg (16-0).
