Volunteers to help build Orchard Park playground Tuesday

From CDT staff reportsJune 24, 2013

State College Borough staff and municipal leaders from across the commonwealth will join local residents to help build a playground at Orchard Park on Tuesday.

The playground, off Blue Course Drive near West Whitehall Road, is a partnership with the nonprofit Kaboom!, the Pennsylvania Municipal League, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Highmark Blue Shield and Centre Region Parks and Recreation.

Area children helped design the playground, as the State College Borough held a design day in April when children gathered to draw pictures of what their dream playgrounds would look like.

Residents are also being asked to participate in the playground’s construction. As many as 125 volunteers are needed for Build Day on Tuesday. For details, call 278-4723.
