Little League: National scores win over American in District 5 11-12 All-Stars tournament

— State College National used an offensive burst in the top of the fifth inning to bounce State College American 14-4 in the District 5 11-12 All-Star Tournament on Sunday.

National plated nine runs in the deciding frame after American raced out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

National was led by Jarod Beyer’s huge day at the plate. Beyer belted two home runs and two singles to cap an impressive offensive performance to help lead his team advance to a showdown with Big Valley on Tuesday. Jack Mangene, David Shoemaker, Tyler Gulley and Kevin Karstetter chipped in two hits apiece for National.

American was led by Matt Steyers, Jack Hurley, Tanner Brandimarte and R.J. Marsh who all notched two hits each.
