American Legion baseball: Beech Creek downs Bellefonte

— Beech Creek’s Kenny Heverly and Phil Holter combined for a four-hitter during a 4-2 victory over Bellefonte during an American Legion baseball game on Tuesday. The contest was halted after 5 1/2 innings because of rain and lightning.

Trailing 3-0, Bellefonte got within a run in the third. Seth Weaver led off with a walk. Kevin Tate and Doylan Deitrich followed with back-to-back singles, with Deitrich’s hit plating Weaver. Tate scored on Noah Perryman’s RBI groundout.

Zach Williams had two singles for Bellefonte (4-17). Chuck Probst and Cole Hanley had two singles each for Beech Creek.

Bellefonte plays at Mifflin County at 6 p.m. Friday.
