Centre County Baseball League: Lewistown sweeps Blanchard

— Lewistown pitchers allowed just one run and 10 hits over 14 innings as the Predators swept a doubleheader from Blanchard, winning 8-1 and 9-0 on Sunday.

In the opener, Adam Barger went 5 1/3 innings to earn the win and was backed by three homers.

Chad Battista hit a two-run homer in the first inning and John Michael Maclay had a solo shot in a five-run second. Jay Hartman added a two-run double in the second. Ryan Keefer capped the scoring with solo homer in the fourth. Battista, Keefer, Maclay and Mike Higgins each had two hits in the contest.

Nathan Saltzer pitched a six-hit shutout in the nightcap. Saltzer struck out four and walked one.

Chris Drobnick and Battista each had a single and a double for Lewistown (10-7). Heckert added two singles, including an RBI single in a four-run fourth that made the score 7-0.

Larry Bechdel had three hits, including two doubles, in the doubleheader for the Bees.
