American Legion baseball: State College plays three in two days

State College fell 4-1 to Clearfield on Tuesday, a night after sweeping a doubleheader from Hollidaysburg with a pair of 8-1 wins.

Ronny Ogden threw a five-hitter for Clearfield. Caleb Walls and Ben Ripka had a double each for State College.

In the opener against Hollidaysburg on Monday, Derek Van Horn and Tanner Witter each had three hits as State College (11-10-1) broke open a close game with four runs in the sixth inning. Ripka pitched a complete game, while Kenny Craig had two hits.

Walls had three bunt singles to ignite the State College offense in the nightcap against Hollidaysburg. Nick Harner tossed a five-hitter for the victory, and Shawn Omelia’s double iced the contest.
