Letter to the editor | Our liberty is threatened

July 6, 2013

Edward Snowden, in revealing government wiretaps, is a great hero of the rule of law.

It was John Locke who said that, for all of government authority, a man could retire behind the door of his house and be free of that power and intrusion.

The English law is full of that right, and law is the backbone of just government.

Our government, in protecting us from terror, is destroying from within what it would outwardly protect. This offends liberty, and not only ours but that of the whole gathering world.
