Meat deal goes bad: Bellefonte man suspect of theft by deception

— An unidentified Bellefonte man is a suspect in what state police are calling a case of theft by deception involving an attempt to purchase meat.

State police at Lamar say Dottie Bechdel, 66, paid a 33-year-old Bellefonte man $75 to have meat delivered to her home on Canal Street.

Police said the suspect “never provided any meat nor refunded the victim’s money.”

The deal was to be completed from June 27-30.

No other information was immediately available.
