Penn State basketball: Freshman Lindsey Spann suffers torn ACL

From CDT staff reportsJuly 10, 2013

Penn State’s backcourt depth has gotten a little thinner, as incoming freshman guard Lindsey Spann has suffered a tear to her right anterior cruciate ligament during a workout.

She had successful surgery to repair her knee on Monday and a timetable for her return has not been set.

“Although it's a disappointing start to her career, Lindsey has displayed a great attitude and approach to this unfortunate situation,” Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington said. “She will work hard in rehab and return to the court ready to be a player of tremendous impact.”

The native of Laurel, Md., was the 22nd-ranked player by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and 88th-rated player by Blue Star Basketball. She averaged 15.9 points, 5.3 assists and 2.4 steals with an 80 percent free throw percentage as a senior in helping Good Counsel High School to a 25-5 record.
