Little League: Rain suspends District 5 title game; State College-Tri County tied 3-3

For the CDTJuly 11, 2013

— Rain has been the top story throughout the Centre Region for much of the summer thus far, and Wednesday night was no different. Play was postponed for the District 5 11-12 Little League championship game between State College National and Tri County.

The game will resume Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at Montressor Field with the score tied 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning.

Unlike Tuesday night’s game between the two opponents, the scoring began early as State College National, which is the visiting team based on the pregame coin flip, scored two runs in the top of the first and one run in the top of the second.

Not to be outdone, Tri County posted three runs in the bottom of the second frame. The score remained tied when lightning came into the area with two outs in the top of the fifth.

Tri County features players from Centre, Blair and Huntingdon counties.
