Centre County Baseball League: Clarence outduels Howard in offensive affair

— Clarence and Howard combined for 32 hits and 26 runs, but the Mounties outlasted the Hawks 14-12 to ensure themselves a home playoff game.

Ryan MacNamara led Clarence (14-8) with a double, two singles and a straight steal of home in the first inning. John Schall had two doubles and a single for the Mounties, who will host an opponent to be determined on Sunday.

Scott Zubeck had four hits for the Hawks (8-14) including a three-run home run in the second. Kyle Womer followed with a two-run homer to put Howard up 5-3. However, the Mounties responded with six in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 14-7 lead. The Hawks rallied late with four in the sixth, but Justin Taylor got the save by getting Tyler Womer to ground out with runners in position.
