From CDT staff reportsJuly 16, 2013

A Penn State alumnus and his wife have donated $1 million to the university’s mechanical and nuclear engineering department, the university has announced.

The donors are Naren Gursahaney, the CEO and a director of security company The ADT Corp., and his wife, Judith, of Boca Raton, Fla. Naren Gursahaney graduated in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

The Gursahaneys’ donation will be used for student research, innovative research or education projects, and travel expenses for faculty or students to attend conferences, the university said.

The new fund is the couple’s second major gift to Penn State. In 2008, the Gursahaneys established the Naren and Judith Gursahaney Trustee Scholarship in the College of Engineering.
