Bellefonte man hospitalized after two-vehicle crash along state Route 144

— A Bellefonte man was hospitalized after a two-car crash Thursday afternoon on state Route 144 between Pleasant Gap and Centre Hall.

Spring Township police said a 2003 Chevrolet Impala driven by Philip Giunta, 49, of Bellefonte, struck a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Ryan Silfies, 39, of Bellefonte.

The 3:31 p.m. crash occurred at the intersection of Route 144/South Main Street and Greens Valley Road, police said.

The Impala rolled onto its passenger side against a utility pole off the western berm. The pickup spun onto the western berm.

Giunta was extracted from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to Mount Nittany Medical Center. Spring Township police said he was then transported to UPMC Altoona Regional Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

Police had no information Thursday night about Silfies’ condition.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged. No additional details were available.
