Penn State football: Zwinak named to Doak Walker Award watch list

From CDT staff reportsJuly 19, 2013

— Penn State junior running back Zach Zwinak was added to the Doak Walker Award watch list, the university announced Thursday.

Zwinak, who ascended to Penn State’s starting spot in the backfield and churned for 1,000 rushing yards, is also on the Maxwell Award watch list.

Given to the nation’s top running back who also demonstrates academic prowess and citizenship in the community, the Doak Walker Award is awarded by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors. It is named for SMU’s three-time All-America running back who won the Heisman Trophy in 1948.

Penn State has nine players up for individual awards so far.
