Centre County Baseball League playoffs: Clarence rolls over Spring Mills

From CDT staff reportsJuly 19, 2013

— The Clarence Mounties got within a game of advancing into the semifinals after they beat the Spring Mills Braves 14-2 on Thursday.

Clarence’s offense picked up right away as the first five Mountie hitters all put the ball into play to get on base. After cycling through the order, Justin Taylor knocked one out of the park to give Clarence a 10-0 lead.

Spring Mills didn’t score until Kevin Conklin hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth. By then it was too late despite the Spring Mills defense’s best efforts. The Braves turned four double plays in the game.

Clarence, which leads the series 2-1, will try to wrap it up in Game 4 on their home diamond on Sunday.
