Letter to the editor | A grand old time was had

July 19, 2013

Congratulations to the producers, choreographers and others for their presentation of the Fourth of July fireworks and music, showing what love and appreciation of our country, America, should be.

With the national anthem, the presentation and retiring of the flag, the armed forces medley, the Gettysburg Address, American music — including “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” — the pageant was far superior to the Capitol Fourth and Macy’s, which have become showcases to enhance the performances.

The last two minutes of melody could have had a bit more pizzazz, but the outline of the United States was unique.

And thanks to WHVL for airing the performance.
