Centre County Baseball League: Spring Mills forces decisive game in playoff series with Clarence

— After spotting Clarence a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Jordan Brennan quieted the Mounties’ bats in his complete-game win as the Spring Mills Braves prevailed 4-2 Sunday.

The Braves forced a decisive Game 5 of their Centre County Baseball League first-round playoff series at Clarence on Tuesday.

Brennan gave up six hits and three walks while striking out seven, allowing only a Brian Kochik two-run home run in the opening inning.

Spring Mills scratched out single runs in four different innings to earn teh win, with Elliott Reily and Mike Vogt each figuring in two of the runs. Vogt’s RBI single scored Reily in the first, a nd Vogt tied the game with an RBI fielder’s choice in the third. A George Conklin fielder’s choice brought in Reily in the fifth with the go-ahead run, and a Cody Young RBI single in the sixth completed the scoring.

Ryan MacNamara added a double and losing pitcher Josh Wetzel had a pair of hits for the Mounties.

Howard eliminated Lewistown with a win in Sunday’s other game. No other details were reported.
