WILLIAM C. NICHOL — Photo provided

Each Monday the Centre Daily Times will publish an installment in our “Share our Heritage” series, featuring photos from Centre County’s past. Today’s photo is from William C. Nichol, of State College.

This is a photo of the members of the State College Kiwanis Club, taken in front of the Autoport in 1938.

Nichol wrote: “The word around town for many years was the Rotarians owned the town, the Kiwanians ran the town — this group of men did both.”

Edward Jones is kneeling in the front, holding the sign.

Front row, from left: Kenneth Stephens, Marion B. Meyer, Maurice W. Neidigh, Calvin Graham, Eugene Lee, Hubert Koch, Joe C. Shoemaker (president), C.A. Elder, Francis Miller and Samuel Crabtree.

Back row, from left: Dr. Dietrich, Jack Frost, Gordon Kissinger, William S. Jeffries, Julius Kaulfuss, Robert J. Miller, J. Martin Frey, E.L. Willard, Forest Struble and Harold B. Shattuck.
