Philipsburg man injured in ATV crash

From CDT staff reportsJuly 23, 2013

A Philipsburg man was injured in an ATV accident Sunday evening in Rush Township.

State police at Philipsburg said Stephen Pollard, 40, was seen traveling north on Sleepy Hollow Road by a trooper parked along the side of the roadway. When Pollard got within about 100 yards of the patrol vehicle, he stopped the ATV, turned around and drove away, police said.

The officer followed the ATV in an attempt to stop the vehicle. After a short distance, Pollard tried to steer off the roadway and crashed, police said.

He suffered moderate injuries in the crash and was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment. Police said Pollard was suspected of driving under the influence. They said charges are possible pending blood alcohol test results.
