State College Spikes game at Mahoning Valley on Tuesday postponed

From CDT staff reportsJuly 23, 2013

— The State College Spikes’ game at Mahoning Valley on Tuesday night was washed out by rain.

The teams will play a doubleheader of seven-inning games beginning at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday at Eastwood Field.

The game was postponed because of wet field conditions caused by heavy rains in Northeast Ohio.

Pitching matchups for Wednesday have not been set. The Spikes had been scheduled to start Jimmy Reed (1-1) with Nick Petree (1-1) to follow in a “piggyback” setup. The Scrappers were slated to counter with Kenny Mathews (0-1), and the teams were scheduled to throw Andrew Pierce (0-1) for the Spikes against Luis Lugo (1-3) on Wednesday.

This week marks the final State College visit to Mahoning Valley this season, with the three-game series finishing Thursday.

The Spikes return to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Friday to begin a short two-game series with the Auburn Doubledays.
