Letter to the editor | Playground uninspired

July 24, 2013

This weekend, I finally had an opportunity to take my children to the new playground at Orchard Park.

At first they were excited, but within five minutes they were finished playing.

The new structure was a great attempt at providing more play areas for kids, but it seems that, at least for us, it was a missed opportunity.

What about building natural play areas with boulders, creek beds, logs, gardens, meandering paths, caves, tunnels, pergolas, stumps and sandboxes?

This type of setting would capture the imaginations of children and keep them entertained for longer.

Just a thought.
