Letter to editor | “Jack” will be missed

July 26, 2013

It is with great sadness that, along with her family, the Penns Valley community and the Penns Valley School District, we mourn the loss of one of our own special people.

Jackie Winter Shawver gallantly fought a long and difficult battle against cancer but lost her fight on Sunday.

Having been such a huge part of her community and serving it in many facets, she was known, respected and loved by many adults and children.

At school, “Jack” was the go-to person when something was needed, and she knew how to get things done. Her vivacious personality is unforgettable.

Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but her life with us — her kindness, friendship, generosity and her memory — should be what helps all of us now to fill that emptiness.

Godspeed. We will forever miss our dear friend!
