State College man charged with simple assault

From CDT staff reportsJuly 29, 2013

A man was arrested and charged with simple assault Friday after an incident in which State College police said he choked his girlfriend and bloodied her nose.

Michael Davis, 25, was arraigned on the misdemeanor assault charge and a summary offense of harassment after the Friday incident on the 500 block of East Calder Way. It was reported at about 8 a.m. Friday but is believed to have happened a few hours prior, police said.

Davis remains in Centre County Correctional Facility after being unable to post $25,000 bail, and has a preliminary hearing set for Wednesday, according to court documents.

This is the sixth time Davis has been arrested or cited in three years. He was charged in four separate public drunkenness incidents since September 2010 and pleaded guilty in one instance of public urination.
