Centre County Baseball League Playoffs: Clarence remains alive against Lemont

— Justin Taylor drove in five runs and Clarence scored in six of its seven trips to the plate as the Mounties remained alive with their 15-5 romp against Lemont in the Centre County Baseball League playoffs.

Brian Kochik and John Schall each drove in three runs for Clarence, which now trails the best-of-five semifinal series 2-1. Game 4 is at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at Clarence.

Leading 2-0, the Mounties started to blow the game open in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, Taylor cleared them with long double into the left-center field gap to make the score 5-0.

With his team leading 6-0, Kochik kept the rout going in the fourth with a two-run triple to left-center and came home on Schall’s RBI single.

Trailing 9-0, Lemont scored four times in the bottom of the fourth, stringing together four consecutive hits. Eric Wolanski’s RBI single preceded Kyle Wright’s two-run triple to left-center.

Clarence bounced right back with three more runs in the top of the fifth. Schall had a two-run single and Taylor plated a run with a single in the outburst.

Kochik earned the win on the mound, scattering nine hits, while striking out four and walking one. Dylan Schall and John Schall each had three singles to lead a 15-hit attack. Derek Jabco, Brad Kling, Kochik and Taylor had two hits each.

Aaron Sallade and Wolanski each had two hits for the Ducks.
