The 30th annual Bellefonte Arts and Craft Fair begins Friday at Talleyrand Park.

According to Arts and Crafts Fair Director Debbie Hamilton, Jeri Galaida and Diona Goldman had a vision to bring a fair of this nature to Bellefonte. The two set up a committee and welcomed artists and entertainers to downtown Bellefonte.

Now, there are dozens of craft vendors that specialize in painting, jewelry, woodwork, photography, pottery, textiles and more.

The annual festival hosts more than a dozen food vendors, more than 65 arts and crafts vendors, and live entertainment through the days on the Main Stage and Gazebo Stage.

Live entertainment includes Allegheny Ridgerunners, AC Express, J.T. Blues, Bellefonte Community Band, Erin Condo & the Hoofties and the Tussey Mountain Moonshiners, among 11 others.

Featured artists include Jayce Lewis, Chip Mock and Tom Betush, and also includes children artists, children’s activities and a fair contest that include best in show, best new artists and best returning artist.

Last year’s winners included Jamie Myers, who specialized in woodwork, Elizabeth Hay, who makes jewelry out sterling silver, gems and pearls, and Janet Robinson, owner of Piper’s Peck, that makes sauces and jams.

Children’s activities include events at the Dominion Science Center tent all day Friday and Saturday, Discovery Space 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, an arts and crafts tent 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday, a youth kayaking experience with the Mach 1 Kayak Team all day Friday and Saturday for children ages 10 to 14, and a Bellefonte EMS ambulance and firefighter display during the fair.

In addition the seventh annual Herbie’s Hometown Loop race will be held 8:30 a.m. Saturday, as an annual memorial event to honor Jeremy Herbstritt, a Bellefonte native killed in the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007. Funds raised will helped the community build a track facility.
