Julian man killed in ATV crash

August 18, 2013

A Julian man was killed in an ATV crash Saturday in Rush Township.

Police said Mark Tice, 44, was operating an ATV on Tram Road — a dirt and gravel mountain road in the Moshannon State Forest about two miles north of state Route 504 — and was traveling too quickly around a curve when the vehicle lost traction and eventually struck a tree at the edge of the road.

Tice was thrown from the ATV and was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Scott Rawson.

County Coroner Scott Sayers said Sunday that Tice’s death was accidental and caused by blunt force trauma to the chest.
