CENTRE HALL — The nights this weekend could be brisk and make for some chilly sleeping weather at the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair.
Friday’s low temperature could be in the 50s, and that could hang on through the weekend as a cold front pushes through, said National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Fitzgerald, of the State College office.
The annual fair will start Thursday and will go through Aug. 29.
Thursday will see temperatures in the low 80s, but there’s a 40 percent chance for a storm in the late afternoon through the evening, he said.
That could dampen the opening ceremonies, set for 5:30 p.m., or the fair queen’s coronation, which is at 7 p.m.
The high temperatures over the weekend will be in the upper 70s, he said.
Next week will be more humid and warmer, Fitzgerald said, and that’s the next chance for a storm after Thursday.
