Carlisle man flees from police while carrying young child

From CDT staff reportsAugust 22, 2013

A Carlisle man was charged after fleeing from police while holding a 5-year-old child Thursday in Centre County.

State police at Rockview said Joshua Grimes, 31, was arrested after leading police on a short pursuit around 11:30 a.m. Thursday on state Route 144 in Potter Township.

Police said Grimes was driving a vehicle they suspected was stolen. Troopers initiated a traffic stop, but Grimes fled, driving the vehicle onto Bible Road and then stopping on a private drive.

Grimes exited the vehicle carrying the child and fled into a corn field. Troopers pursued him into the field and Grimes eventually surrendered, police said.
