In an effort to help raise money for Colyer Lake’s restoration, community members and the Save Colyer Lake Committee will hold a fundraiser on Sept. 15.
At noon, the lake will fill with kayaks, canoes and rowboats, while an aerial photo is taken as a way to show the life of the lake. Activities also will include workshops, entertainment and refreshments.
Participation is $20 per person or $40 per family.
Colyer Lake is 77 acres and owned by the state Fish and Boat Commission. Last year, the commission labeled the lake “highly hazardous” and started draining it. The lower water level helped the dam operate safely until repairs can be made.
Those repairs are reported to cost $6.8 million. For more information, visit www.savecolyerlake.org.
