Letter to the editor | Fair is fair

August 23, 2013

I would like to offer an alternative to Thursday’s fast-food workers’ planned strike.

In the 1950s and ’60s, there was a rule that was fairly well followed by most companies that no executive should make more than 25 times the wage of the lowest worker.

Let’s have Congress vote this rule into law, and McDonald’s would have two choices: Lower CEOs’ income from $13.5 million to $400,000 a year or raise workers’ wage to $270 an hour.

Boy, sometimes it is really fun to write these letters.
