— Cumberland Valley swept both doubles matches to hand State College its first loss of the season with a 3-2 decision.

The contest was tight with a pair of matches going three sets.

Cathy Badding won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 singles and Juliette Greer pulled out a 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles for the Lady Little Lions.

Cumberland Valley got wins at No. 3 singles from Matzie Ober (6-0, 6-1) and in doubles from No. 1 Vinishia Reedy/Chloe Gouse (6-2, 6-2) and No. 2 Elizabeth Marin/Evelyn Marin (2-6, 6-3, 6-4).

“Hopefully the girls learned a lot from this match and will be able to do a better job of managing their matches by playing smarter tennis as we work our way through the season,” State College coach Jane Borden said. “Badding and Greer led the team today and it was nice to see them think and execute.”
