Police: Man steals Centre Mart cash register, escapes

From CDT staff reportsAugust 27, 2013

— An unknown man took a cash register from the Wilson Street Centre Mart after spraying the clerk in the face with pepper spray, Bellefonte Borough Police said.

The incident happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday night, according to police.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot, 6-inch black man having redish short hair that has stars shaved or dyed into it, police said. He was wearing diamond stud earrings in both ears, red and white sneakers, a black hoodie and jeans.

Part of the cash register and a pellet gun were recovered near the store, but police don’t believe the gun was brandished during the incident. Police believe he got into a nearby parked vehicle and fled the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 353-2320.
