Penn State’s nursing school awarded $1 million grant

From CDT staff reportsAugust 29, 2013

Penn State’s nursing school has been awarded a $1.1 million grant from an agency in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the university announced.

The School of Nursing will use the funding to enable medical students at the University Park and Hershey campuses to connect with nurse practitioner students at three branch campuses using online or interactive video technology. The goal is that the nurse practitioner students will learn safety and quality of care for patients with multiple chronic conditions in rural parts of the state that are medically underserved.

The students will also have clinical experiences in these areas.

The grant was made available from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
