High school tennis: State College girls cruise past Cedar Cliff

— The State College girls’ tennis team breezed to a decisive victory over Cedar Cliff on Thursday afternoon, giving up just four total games in a 5-0 victory.

Cathy Badding, Juliette Greer and Amy Poissant each won in straight sets in singles, with Greer taking her match 6-0, 6-0 over Sami Wilson. Badding beat Anesha Maini 6-0, 6-1, and Poissant stopped Jackie Bolton 6-1, 6-1.

The doubles tandem of Lacey Schroeder and Cassie Walter also won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, while the first doubles team of Caitlin McGlaughlin and Caroline Whitman won the first set of their match 6-0 before an illness on the Cedar Cliff team ended the match.

State College (3-1) is back on the court today against Chambersburg.

“The girls did a nice job today and this helped us to prepare for a tough match tomorrow,” Lady Little Lion coach Jane Borden said.
