Girls volleyball: State College aces opener

— With 24 service aces as a team, State College opened the season with a decisive 25-15 , 25-7, 25-14 over Central Dauphin East on Tuesday.

“The kids were a little amped up,” coach Chad Weight said. “It was the first game.”

Taylor Leath led the effort from the service line with 10 aces to go with six kills, while Kyla Irwin added seven aces to accompany three blocks. Christine Irwin led the offense with 15 kills, and Janae Moran and Erika Del Pilar each gave out 14 assists.

The Lady Little Lions visit rival Altoona on Thursday.
