Shane Middleton, 31, (left) and his older brother, Brett Middleton, 33, are being held in the Centre County jail on $250,000 straight bail and awaiting a preliminary hearing next week after being arrested and charged in the November 2011 armed robbery of Grattan’s Pharmacy in Philipsburg.

Two Clearfield men charged in an November 2011 armed robbery of a Philipsburg pharmacy now face additional felony charges.

Prosecutors asked District Judge Carmine Prestia on Wednesday to add felony robbery counts to the numerous other charges in cases against Brett Middleton, 33, and his younger brother Shane Middleton, 31.

Both brothers now faces three felony robbery counts — one for each the owner and two employees who were in the Grattan’s Pharmacy when it was robbed at about 9:20 a.m. Nov. 16, 2011.

During a preliminary hearing for the brothers Wednesday, Prestia found there was enough evidence to bind all of the charges over for trial, including the new counts. They now face possible trial on the charges.

The brothers were picked up last week and are being held on $250,000 straight bail in the Centre County Correctional Facility.

Police had charged a third suspect, Shawn Demko, of Clearfield, but the man shot and killed himself four days after the robbery when police arrived at his home to arrest him, according to the charging documents in the case.
