Students are back to their routines and the first hints of fall are in the air, so it’s time for thoughts of homecoming in Penns Valley.

School officials have released this year’s homecoming schedule, about a month before the colorful floats will take to the Grange fairgrounds in Centre Hall.

The parade is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, rain or shine, at the fairgrounds. It will be followed, as always, by a pep rally at the Grandstand.

The homecoming events, including the football game that Friday against Philipsburg-Osceola and the dance Saturday, are the highlights of a weeklong celebration.

This year, the week’s theme is rock n’ roll. District officials said they are encouraging districtwide participation, including in the parade.

“We encourage grade levels, teams and groups to do floats,” officials said on the district’s website.

Those floats will be built Sept. 30 through Oct. 2 at the Grange fairgrounds.
