Ferguson Township police investigating rape report

From CDT staff reportsSeptember 9, 2013

Ferguson Township police are investigating a woman’s report that she was sexually assaulted by a man she knew after she had been drinking one night earlier this summer.

Police got a search warrant for a 28-year-old State College man’s DNA after semen was found inside the woman during a forensic exam at the Mount Nittany Medical Center on July 6. The woman went to the emergency room after she woke up in an apartment on Martin Street and found she was in a man’s clothing, according to court documents.

The search warrant, filed on Thursday, indicates police are investigating the incident as a possible rape or sexual assault. The search warrant said the two knew each other from work.

The woman told police she had been drinking at the Phyrst but doesn’t remember much after last call around 1:30 a.m. July 5. Police said she remembered waking up twice earlier: once when she vomited and another time when someone was fondling her.

The man told the woman, and later told police, they did not have sex.

The man told police the two ended up at his apartment because the woman did not have her key.
