Boys’ golf: State College third in Mid-Penn match

— Tyrus Gates fired a six-over-par 78 to pace State College to a third-place finish among six teams in a Mid-Penn golf match at Blue Ridge Country Club.

Hershey won the event with a score of 389, 12 strokes better than second-place Lower Dauphin. State College totaled 410 strokes to finish ahead of Central Dauphin (429), Palmyra (493) and Central Dauphin East (522).

In addition to Gates, Ben Gelenberg (81), Christian Friberg (82), Erik Isola (83) and Alex Stover (86) scored for the Little Lions (20-10).

Hershey’s Jake Reilly and Lower Dauphin’s Chad Stine shared medalist honors with rounds of 74.
