Letter to the editor | A plan for Bellefonte

September 10, 2013

The only true win-win situation in regard to the future of the Garman Theatre building is for developer Ara Kervandjian’s Progress Development Group to utilize the Cadillac Building and the Do De building site and the land where the Bellefonte Academy once stood for his workforce housing project and charge the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association with the relatively minor restoration of the Garman Theatre, an official historic property whose preservation is required under Pennsylvania Conservatorship Law.

The BHCA would truly revitalize the downtown Bellefonte area with a variety of programs within its normal operations and focus, bring visitors into town and create a go-to location.
