Boys’ cross country: Rams score pair of wins

September 11, 2013

— Nick Fuller led the field as Penns Valley earned two victories in a quad meet Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams knocked off Bald Eagle Area 19-36 and St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy 27-28, but fell to Central Mountain 20-38. The Wildcats also beat St. Joe’s 25-34 and BEA 20-43, and St. Joe’s topped the Eagles 21-34.

Battling temperatures in the upper 80s and high humidity, Fuller turned in a winning time of 19:25 to edge BEA’s Zach Moody, who covered the course in 19:46.

“Nick Fuller had a plan going into the race and executed it to perfection,” Rams coach Terry Glunt said. “It wasn't easy, what with the conditions and the stiff competition, but he toughed it through like a true champ. As a team, I was very pleased with everyone's performance. I thought we got better today.”

Stephen Forstmeier and Brian Hackman took fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 19:52 and 19:59 for the Wolves.
