Cross country: Penns Valley earns three wins

— The Penns Valley girls’ cross country team swept to three wins Tuesday afternoon in a quad meet with Bald Eagle Area, St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy and Central Mountain.

The Lady Rams slipped past the Wildcats 29-30, but prevailed 16-46 over St. Joe’s and 18-45 against BEA. The Wolves beat the Eagles 23-32 and lost to Central Mountain 17-41. The Wildcats beat BEA 17-46.

The Lady Rams had all five scoring runners in the top nine, led by a third-place finish for Alyssa Limbaugh in 22 minutes, 55 seconds. Emma Federinko followed in fifth in 23:26, while Malarie Yoder was seventh, Makenzie Wenrick was eighth and Rebecca Bierly took ninth.

Central Mountain’s Laurel Moyer paced the field with her 22-minute clocking.

BEA was led by Maddie Cingle’s sixth-place finish in 24:28, and St. Joe’s got a 10th-place effort from Grace Cousins in 25:38.
