Bellefonte police: Traffic stop leads to heroin bust

— Bellefonte police said they discovered 50 bags of heroin during a traffic stop Friday evening, and two men are behind bars awaiting a court hearing on the charges.

Police arrested 20-year-old Jeremy Waddell, of Howard, and 23-year-old Jumichael Drummond, of Williamsport, after, they say, they saw heroin bundles on the floor of a van. Police had pulled over the van at Spring and Bishop streets because its inspection sticker was expired.

Police took Waddell and Drummond into custody, had the van towed to the station and got a search warrant. The search yielded the 50 bags of heroin, a loaded .40 caliber handgun, marijuana and $760.

At the Bellefonte police station, Waddell refused to talk, but Drummond cooperated, police said.

Waddell is charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor count of having a firearm without a license.

Drummond is charged with a felony count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Both men are in jail on $15,000 cash bail and are awaiting a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
