SPRING MILLS — The Bald Eagle Area and Penns Valley girls’ teams played 100 minutes of soccer Monday evening and could not produce a winner.
The Lady Eagles’ Megan Peters drilled a penalty kick 12:59 into the second half to tie the game as the teams played to a 2-2 tie.
Morgan Nyman also found the net for BEA with a first-half score.
Rachel Hodgson and Alyssa Denger each scored for the Lady Rams (2-4-1).
“We started out slowly but turned up the pressure midway through the first half,” Penns Valley coach Jeff Smucker said. “The girls generated numerous scoring opportunities in the second half and overtime but the Bald Eagle girls did a good job of turning away all of the shots. We just couldn’t find the finishing touch. It was a battle from start to finish and certainly exciting to watch.”
Kylie Orndorf made 11 saves for Penns Valley while her counterpart Dallis Dillon stopped 12 shots.
