Penn State men’s soccer: Wadid goal gives Nittany Lions win over Robert Morris

September 18, 2013

— Mark Wadid did the scoring and Andrew Wolverton did the rest as the Penn State men’s soccer team blanked Robert Morris 1-0 Tuesday night at Jeffrey Field.

The outcome was the fourth contest this season decided by a 1-0 score — the third such win for the Nittany Lions. Wolverton made two saves for his 18th career shutout in 33 starts.

Coming off an emotional 1-1 tie with No. 5 California last Friday, head coach Bob Warming was just happy to get a win and a goal, ending a three-game winless streak.

“I didn’t think the guys had their legs tonight,” Warming said. “I was proud of them because it was a gutty performance when you’re tired and your legs are heavy. They never quit and they didn’t give up a goal.”

Mason Klerks set up Wadid’s score in the 34th minute.

Penn State (3-2-1) hosts Duquesne on Sunday.
